Here are some general rules and guidelines for posting in the Fiction section.
1. Correct spellings and grammar are expected. Obviously the occasional typo will go by unnoticed and everyone is at a different standard of writing but language such as ‘L8r’ and ‘ur’ are really not acceptable.
2. Organisation of the text must be of a reasonable standard. No one wants to read streams of text with no gaps between lines. A line between each paragraph is fine and a new paragraph is the norm every time a different person in the story uses speech. Makes it much easier on the eyes.
3. Plagiarism is intolerable. Anyone who is caught stealing another person’s work from any place on the internet and posting it here WILL be banned. If you suspect plagiarism then report it and it will be dealt with as soon as possible.
4. Refrain from posting flames. Naturally you will have different opinions on fiction after you have read it but please, try to keep it civilised. Constructive criticism is welcomed; persistent abuse will incur the appropriate penalties.
5. Keep new chapters in the same topic as the first. That may seem like commonsense but you’ll be surprised just how easy it is to forget that.
6. Refrain from filling a topic with spam. No one wants to hear that you’ve got a new game if you’re commenting completely out of the blue. Try to keep posts relevant, Fiction is for stories, not general discussion.
7. Keep content applicable to age ratings. There is a section for excessive gore and explicit content, keep it confined in there where it can not cause harm to those of more innocent mindsets.
Follow these rules and guidelines and everyone should enjoy their experience here. Happy writing.
